ImageStream Ships New TransPort
ImageStream is now shipping its new entry-level router called the TransPort. The TransPort is a low-profile router that includes a high-performance VIA C3 processor, 128 MB error-correcting memory, three 10/100 ethernet ports, and one expansion slot. The TransPort is designed for premise applications where wire-speed performance is required using one or two synchronous serial or T1/E1 ports. The TransPort also provides options for 802.11a/b/g wireless, ADSL, BRI, and 56K dial-up connections.
The new TransPort takes advantage of ImageStream's ImageStream Linux router distribution. ImageStream Linux features the Inetics driver component architecture, and advanced networking applications for NAT firewall, QoS, dynamic routing, tunneling, VPN, VRRP, VLAN tagging, packet filtering, bandwidth limiting, interface bonding, real-time monitoring, menu-based configuration, and more. The TransPort's advanced features make it one of the most capable low-cost routers on the market.
ImageStream President J.C. Utter said that the new TransPort has already opened the door for the company to supply routers to telcos with large CPE installations. Utter commented, "The TransPort's low price will allow our resellers to compete more aggressively for projects that require wire-speed performance with the most advanced features." Utter said that most businesses need the TransPort's powerful features, but most entry-level routers do not offer those features, or they don't have a processor fast enough to deliver line-rate throughput in conjunction with those features.
The TransPort will also be available in discounted bundles that include one or two synchronous serial or T1/E1 ports. Retail pricing for a single port synchronous serial or T1/E1 bundle is $1,499 US, or $1,999 US for dual port configurations. All retail prices are valid for U.S. domestic sales only, and include 24/7 technical support for the first year, software upgrades for life, and ImageStream's exclusive 31-day money back performance guarantee (refer to ImageStream's Web site for details).
