ImageStream Ships Industry's Lowest Cost DS3/E3 WAN Cards
ImageStream Internet Solutions is shipping its new 520 Series WAN adapters. The new 520 Series cards are available in PCI and PMC form factors including 1, 2, and 4-port synchronous serial, T1, and E1 cards, as well as 1 and 2 port DS3 and E3 adapters. The new cards are compatible with ImageStream's Industrial Series and Pro Series routers, and they can be used in OEM systems running Windows, FreeBSD, Solaris, or Linux.
According to company officials, the new 520 Series cards are the industry's lowest cost WAN adapters for DS3 and E3 applications. The single port DS3 and E3 cards for Industrial Series routers retail for $1,527 USD, and the dual port versions retail for $2,382. ImageStream officials also say that the new 520 Series PMC adapters are the lowest cost PMC cards for DS3 and E3 applications. The single port DS3 cards for Pro Series routers retail for $1,636 USD, while the E3 version retails for $1,591.
When ImageStream's new DS3 and E3 cards are installed in the company's Rebel router, the resulting solution represents the industry's lowest cost DS3/E3 router at a retail price of $3,526 USD. The next closest priced DS3/E3 router on the market retails for more than twice the ImageStream price.
According to ImageStream's President, J.C. Utter, the new entry point for DS3/E3 WAN cards will allow service providers to offer more competitive services. In addition, Utter says that a number of OEM developers are interested in integrating the new cards into their data communications products.
