ImageStream Releases ImageStream Linux v4.0

ImageStream has released v4.0 of the ImageStream Linux router distribution. The new version 4 release features the latest 2.4 series Linux kernel, as well as a number of new features and architectural enhancements.

At its core, ImageStream Linux v4 includes the latest release of the Inetics platform. This Inetics release provides support for new hardware including a new ATM OC12 adapter, and accelerated 10/100 and gigabit ethernet adapters. The version 4 release also supports enhanced hardware monitoring of system temperature, voltage supplies, and fan speeds.

ImageStream Linux v4 offers additional software enhancements including an improved menu engine, more extensive real-time statistics, and a memory analysis package that can be used to troubleshoot problems with memory hardware. The version 4 release provides several new packages such as IP-Takeover for LAN connection redundancy, MII for ethernet transceiver control, FreeSWan for IPSec VPN services, and zebra for dynamic routing with BGP4. The new version 4 distribution also includes updated verisons of SSH, gated, and snmpd.

ImageStream Linux v4 is available to licensed developers and ImageStream router customers at no cost. ImageStream router customers can easily upgrade to the latest version 4 distribution using the upgrade option from the ImageStream router's menu interface. OEM developers should contact an ImageStream sales or technical support representative for upgrade assistance.
