Gateway 64

The Gateway 64 is an enhanced version of the Gateway Router, ImageStream's most popular core router. The Gateway 64 uses the same chassis as the standard Gateway, which supports options for AC or DC power, as well as redundant AC or DC power. The Gateway 64 performance enhancements include a dual bus backplane, a dual bus single board computer (SBC), and 256 MB of memory.
The Gateway 64 includes an easy-to-service 19-inch 4U rackmount chassis with high-performance Pentium 4 processor, 800 MHz DDR memory, one 10/100/1000 ethernet port with dedicated CSA bus, dual PCI buses and 12 expansion slots (seven 32-bit 33 MHz PCI, four 32/64-bit PCI-X, and one MiniPCI). The PCI buses and ethernet bus provide an aggregate throughput limit of 11 Gbps, including 2 Gbps via the CSA bus, 1 Gbps over the 32-bit 33 MHz PCI bus, and up to 8 Gbps over the 32/64-bit PCI-X 133 bus. Like all Industrial Series routers, the Gateway 64 uses flash storage with no moving parts to maximize reliability.
The Gateway 64 is an ideal router for DS3/E3 and OC3/STM1 applications that require wire-speed performance. Each 32-bit PCI slot accepts Industrial Series network cards, which provide a wide range of LAN and WAN interfaces. The 64-bit slots accept 32 and 64-bit cards that use 3.3-volt or universal signaling. With these adapters, the Gateway 64 can interconnect multiple IP networks using 56/64 K DDS, fractional and full T1/E1, fractional and full DS3/E3, OC3/STM1, OC12/STM4, ethernet, 802.11x wireless, ADSL, basic rate ISDN (BRI), and 56 K dial-up connections.
The Gateway 64 takes advantage of the ImageStream Linux router distribution, which provides support for NAT firewall security, IPsec and SSL virtual private networks (VPNs), quality of service (QoS), VLAN tagging, VRRP for LAN failover, dynamic routing, packet filtering, bridging, peer-to-peer traffic control, and more.
ImageStream Linux also includes the Inetics platform, which provides a tightly integrated Linux kernel, management software, and the Inetics Driver Component Architecture (IDCA). IDCA supports WAN protocols including PPP, Cisco HDLC, frame relay, and ATM. Inetics makes it easy to troubleshoot LAN and WAN connections by providing real-time port status and performance monitoring. The Inetics platform also supports ImageStream's best-in-class T1/E1 solutions that run Any Port, Any Protocol including SoftCell ATM and IMA.
The Gateway 64 can be used in a wide range of applications from the core to the edge. It is commonly used by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for multihomed networks that require dynamic routing in conjunction with high-density T1/E1, multiport DS3/E3, OC3/STM1, and OC12/STM4 connections. The Gateway 64 works where most Cisco 3700, 7200 and 7500 series routers are used. It is ideal for service provider, government, and corporate networks where a high level of scalability, redundancy, and security is required in an easy-to-service package.
