Course and Exam Objectives
Class starts at 9:00 am CDT and ends at 5:00 pm CDT.
Students will need a telephone and a PC with Internet access, Web browser, and SSH or serial terminal client. The Envoy router will be shipped to students in advance of the class. Connection to the router will either use ethernet or serial console, and students are encouraged to get connected to the router before the class starts.
Getting Connected:
Instructions for joining the Webinar will be provided to you before the class. To ensure the class stays on schedule, get connected to your Envoy router before class begins.
The connection between PC and router can be made directly by connecting one ethernet crossover cable from the PC to one of the router's ethernet ports, and using the default IP address to access the router. The PC can also be connected to the router via an ethernet switch, which would require two straight through ethernet cables and an ethernet switch that you provide.
Alternatively, the serial console is probably the best way to reliably connect to the router, as it does not depend on knowing the IP address assigned to the router. The router provides a DB9 RS232 serial port, so you will need a DB9 null modem cable, and possibly a USB to DB9 serial adapter if your PC does not have an onboard RS232 port. If you receive your router and have difficulties connecting to it in advance of the class, please call ImageStream Technical Support for assistance.
